xAI co-founder Igor Babushkin is planning to raise up to $1B at up to a $5B valuation for a new AI research startup called River AI, with General Catalyst possibly leading the round.

River AI raised $1.1B. The company, co-founded by former DeepMind, OpenAI, and xAI researcher Igor Babuschkin, builds an API platform for companies to fine-tune and own open-weight AI models, and is developing personalized AI agents. Andreessen Horowitz (AMP/Anjney Midha) is a named investor.
