Han Wang, co-founder and CEO of Mintlify, has closed a $45M Series B at a $500M valuation. The company powers developer documentation for over 20,000 customers including Anthropic, Microsoft, Coinbase, OpenAI, Perplexity, and PayPal, reaching more than 100 million people annually.
“50% of the viewers for the content is actually not humans anymore — it's actually AI. It went from 15% about twelve months ago to about 50% a few months ago. And I would say now it's like closer to 70%. We have a very strong opinion that by the end of the year it's gonna start to look like 90 plus percent.”
The AI agent shift
The more striking number isn't the raise — it's the traffic mix. Twelve months ago, AI agents accounted for roughly 15% of Mintlify's documentation traffic. That figure hit 50% a few months ago and is now closer to 70%. Wang expects it to exceed 90% by year-end.
The mechanism is straightforward: when a developer asks Claude or another coding agent to implement a Stripe integration or build a new feature, the agent's first move is to crawl the relevant documentation. Docs have shifted from a human-facing reference layer to infrastructure that agents rely on to understand how products work and decide whether to use them at all.
The SaaSapocalypse argument
Wang frames the "SaaS apocalypse" — the concern that AI undercuts SaaS business models — as a tailwind rather than a threat. As software creation gets cheaper and more companies get built, discoverability becomes more valuable, not less. An agent choosing between competing tools is partly making that decision based on how well a product's documentation exposes what it can do. Wang says Mintlify has seen adoption accelerate through the agent era, not slow.
The long tail matters here too. Wang sees demand growing at both ends: large platforms optimizing heavily-trafficked endpoints for agent consumption, and early-stage companies making sure their products are legible to agents from day one.
Mintlify launched in 2022 out of Y Combinator, where it started by serving batchmates before expanding to roughly a quarter of all YC batches and eventually to enterprise customers at scale.
